This No-Bake Oreo Dessert is a quick and easy no-bake dessert you're gonna love!  This chocolate dessert is made up of pudding, cream cheese, cool whip, and Oreos, of course.

Ingredients

See the recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Oreos
  • Butter
  • Cream cheese – softened.
  • Instant vanilla instant pudding – do not make the pudding AND use the milk below. Only add the 3 cups in these directions.
  • Cool Whip
  • Milk – Some people have had trouble with this setting up – I have not. I’ve used skim, 2% and whole milk. I believe that WHOLE MILK is best.
  • Sugar

How-To Make Oreo Dessert:

1. Crush Oreos: In a 9×13 pan crush the Oreos, saving a few for topping later. Pour melted butter over crushed Oreos.

2. Mix: In a large bowl, mix together with a mixer – instant pudding & milk until thickened. Then add the cream cheese and sugar – mix well.

3. Add Cool Whip: Fold Cool Whip into the pudding mixture and spread over Oreos.

4. Add Topping And Chill: Sprinkle remaining crushed Oreos on top. Chill for 2-3 hours before serving.

Tips for Success

  • I made this batch with Double Stuffed Oreos, but you could really use any flavor of Oreo you’d like, along with changing up the pudding used, as well! Next time, I’m going with Mint Oreos!
  • Do NOT follow the directions on the box of pudding and add in the milk from the box. Only add in the milk from the recipe below.
  • Be sure to chill for several hours before eating. While it’s delicious as soon as it’s made, it’s even better when it has time to sit.

  1. Rachel says:

I believe the problem with the pudding not setting up is that the recipe needs to specify the pudding package that is to be used is a 5.1oz package, not the small 3.4 packages. I ended up putting in two 3.4 packages with the 3 cups milk and it set up immediately.

    1. Jen G says:

Yes! That is how I read the recipe as well. I have mine setting now for a party this evening. The size of the package is what most likely threw people off.

  2. CCrocker says:

Use 1 1/2 cups of milk only and forget the sugar. It was delicious!

Love it! Where I’m from in the south, we call this “Dirt Cake”. 😉

  4. BB says:

I was looking for something yummy, quick, and easy to make for my Spanish class when I came across this and I knew immediately it was perfect! My class loves Oreos so this would be a guaranteed ‘A.’ The only thing I’m confused about is whether or not I need the pudding mix if I use milk. Do you think I should use both or just the milk?

  5. BB says:

I was looking for something easy to make since it’s my week to make something in Spanish class and I found this. I knew immediately that this would be super easy, quick, and delicious! The only thing I’m confused about is whether or not I need the pudding mix of I have milk. Should I use both or only the milk?

    1. Kasey says:

Hi BB, you only need the amount of milk called for in the recipe. Do not add the extra that the pudding mix calls for. Good luck!

  6. violet says:

I forgot the sugar and it was basically oreo pudding but still delicious

    1. Kasey says:

OH good! I’m glad it turned out!!

  7. Amy says:

So I’m confused after reading these posts. Are you supposed to add the dry pudding, 3 cups of milk, cream cheese and sugar. Or are you supposed to make the pudding and then add said pudding, X amount of milk that is left from 3 cups, cream cheese and sugar together.?

    1. Kasey says:

Amy, You just add the ingredients together. Nothing ahead of time.

I’m pretty excited about this dessert. Made it for New Year’s Eve 2015! I used Almond Milk, instead of whole to make the pudding. I also used stevia instead of sugar! Tasted great!

    1. Kasey says:

YAY!!! That is really awesome to hear!!!

  9. Kylie says:

    My mom makes that

    1. Kasey says:

      Isn’t it yummy??!

  10. Evalyn Jacob says:

The dessert tuned out great but I added a layer of blueberry jelly and blue colouring in the pudding.. turned out awesome! ?

    1. Kasey says:

      That is really neat!!

  11. Sue says:

How about changing things up and using Nutter Butter Cookies with a chocolate pudding? What a combo that would be!

    1. Kasey says:

OH my! That would be good!!

  12. jennifer says:

My 8 year old boy has requested an Oreo dessert and I think this one will definitely be a hit in his book!! Can’t wait to try it! I am going to make them in small to-go cups so they will be easy to put in his lunchbox! :O) thank you for the wonderful recipe!!

    1. Kasey says:

OH that is a good idea! I love the idea of individual cups! Put them in little mason jars for the cuteness factor! (see my blog post tomorrow!)

  13. Evelyn C Bay says:

I used whole milk but although it was good did not firm up like pic. Will reduce to maybe two cups.

    1. Kasey says:

You know, maybe that’s it. I’ve made this several times, just like the recipe states above but, I’ve used skim milk or 2%. I wonder if that makes the difference in setting up?

      1. Evelyn C Bay says:

I find in puddings and cheese sauces most of the time, u need the fat in milk to thicken it so even tho I rarely buy whole milk, for these recipes I don’t take chances!

  14. Jessica says:

Im sad.. I tried to make this and put extra milk in cause you didn’t specify that the milk was adding the milk in that you were suppose to put in it for the pudding;(

    1. Kasey says:

OH – do you mean you followed the package directions PLUS put in the milk I mentioned? Yes, that would be way too much! Sorry about that!

      1. Eunice says:

My mixture was lumpy b/c I put the milk in before I creamed all the other ingredients. I didn’t know what to do, so I put a little more pudding mix in it hopefully it will be ok. Haven’t tried it yet. I put it in the freezer.

      2. Kasey says:

Hmmm…ok. I usually follow this recipe just like written. Try it that way!

  15. Laura @ GotChocolate says:

I think I just gained 2 lbs. Man, that looks SO good!!!

    1. Kasey says:

      Doesn’t it?!

  16. beka holman says:

This recipe really needs only 1.5 c. milk, it was super runny with 3 cups, and didn’t set in the refrigerator. Tastes good, just too much milk.

    1. Kasey says:

Hmmm…that’s odd! it’s always worth experimenting!

    2. Evelyn C Bay says:

Just made and good but yes, did not set up like pic. Next time I will reduce the milk, too.
