These Simple Savory Waffles are packed with flavor and the perfect way to switch up your breakfast routine. I love how easy they are to make and how they come together in just a few simple steps! Made with a blend of savory ingredients like bacon, cheedar cheese, and a touch of garlic, these waffles are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They’re great on their own or paired with a fried egg for a hearty meal. Perfect for brunch or any time you’re craving something different!

Savory Start to The Morning
These savory waffles are just like my favorite classic homemade waffle recipe with a crispy, golden, and fluffy texture. But unlike sweet waffles, these savory waffles are more suited for lunch and even dinner! Pair them with eggs, bacon, or even smoked salmon for a full meal.
I love a tasty, sweet breakfast like chocolate chip pancakes, french toast casserole, or banana chocolate chip muffins. However, sometimes, you just need something savory in the mix. That’s where these savory waffles come into play.

Tips for Making Simple Savory Waffles
This recipe doesn’t stray too far from my classic waffle recipe, but here are a few of my tips to make sure it comes out perfectly!
- Preheat your waffle iron. Preheating and lightly greasing your waffle iron is key! Make sure to add some grease to the waffle iron between waffles to keep them from sticking to the iron.
- Don’t overfill the waffle iron. It may be tempting to scoop the batter to the brim of the waffle iron to make big, fluffy waffles. In reality, you’ll just have a big mess to clean up. Scoop just enough batter to cover the waffle iron.
- Let the waffles cook. It may be tempting to check the waffles while they are in the iron, but let them be! The waffle texture won’t be crisp and fluffy if you open and close the iron.
Variations
These waffles just beg for toppings! Here’s a few of my favorites:
- Top waffles with a fried, poached, or over-easy egg.
- Add a big dollop of sour cream to the waffles.
- Garnish with chives or your favorite greens.
- Serve with sliced avocado on top.
- Drizzle with maple syrup for a sweet-savory combination.
- Sprinkle some hot sauce on top of the waffles for some heat.
How to Store and Reheat Extra Waffles
I like to store any leftover waffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you want to reheat the waffles, simply place them in a toaster oven or warm them up in a 350°F oven. You can also freeze the waffles in a single layer and then transfer them to a freezer bag where they will keep for 2 months.
